Hi everyone,
You may have seen the news regarding the situation around PHP and the recently announced vulnerabilities. It's no secret that skUnity uses PHP to power the range of services we offer, because of our extensive use of PHP, skUnity was taken down before the announcement by The PHP Foundation. This ensured we were ready in the event of this being used in the wild. skUnity utilitises Cloudflare for protection. Cloudflare also deployed WAF rules to prevent the exploits being used. Even with the Cloudflare protection, skUnity remained offline. All of the servers owned and operated by skUnity have been successfully updated to the latest versions of PHP. As part of this incident, we have reviewed our server configurations and continue to work on them. PHP powers 70% of the internet (don't witch me on the validity of that), and these vulnerabilities have highlighted the huge problem with how common it is to rely on old versions of PHP that 'just work'. PHP has proven itself to be reliable and things like this happen rarely. Other languages and software have had similar or even bigger problems.
I do have some good news though! The skUnity Parser's Live Parsing feature has been reworked as part of this. It's now more reliable and even quicker than before. Addons are disabled for the time being, we're working on re-adding them once we're happy with how Skript itself works with Live Parser.
A huge thank you to @APickledWalrus for providing up-to-date builds for the skUnity Parser to be able to offer Live Paring.
Please let me know if you encounter any problems with Live Parsing.
There's also more news. SmartImport has recently been updated to handle even more ways for how Skript and addons work. Thanks to @Life55766 for helping me test out SmartImport with SkCine. There's still some tweaking on its detection methods and how it formats what it finds to be a bit prettier, but with SkCine it went from 4 syntax elements detected to 85 syntax elements detected.
I know things around skUnity have been a bit weird. I've hated being absent from the conversation on the skUnity Discord and hope to return at some point in the future when I'm able to. The staff team very kindly share moments with me, so I do see your lovely memes, famous quotes, heartfelt cries for me, and the abuse of #skunity-meta ( at you @Jake). My time is very thinly spread due to my work and personal life, alongside other projects that I maintain. I am slowly building an internal roadmap for what I want from skUnity and have got some amazing plans. I don't have any ETA as my time is so weirdly place at the moment.
PS: @novystar/nova (I don't think you have an account on here), but I love the bunnies you keep posting
Thanks all,
BaeFell
