How to detect when when a dropped item hits water?

You could create a loop that tests if the block at location of the dropped item is water.

    Code (Text):
    1. on drop:
    2.     while event-entity is alive:
    3.         if (block at event-entity) is water:
    4.             broadcast "%event-entity% hit water!"
    5.             stop
    6.         wait 5 ticks
It's gonna be a lag machine with a lot of dropped items, though.
