is blocking?

Is there any event or any workaround for shield blocking? I'm trying to incorporate skyrim-like skills into my game but I don't quite know how to check for blocking.

I could check for if the player is right clicking, takes damage but takes no damage - but I'm not sure if that would work?

It says its for swords but im 99% sure it works for shields
